Hull to Host Prestigious Rugby League Event in 2026
The Betfred World Club Challenge will take place in Hull, with the MKM Stadium set to welcome this world-class rugby league occasion.

“After interest from Qatar, Australia, and other UK cities, we are delighted another world-class event is coming to Hull, with the prestigious Betfred World Club Challenge heading to the MKM Stadium."
Mike Ross, Leader of Hull City Council, emphasized the significance of the event being held locally.
The MKM Stadium’s Vision and Legacy
Built in 2002 with a 25,000-seat capacity, the stadium was designed to attract major international sports events.
“When the 25,000-seat community stadium was built back in 2002, it was aimed to attract international sporting events like the one we’ll see in February next year, when Hull’s treble-winning Robins will take on NRL champions, the Brisbane Broncos.”
Civic Pride and Community Excitement
Ross compared this event to recent celebrations, expecting the city to be alive with pride and enthusiasm.
“Just like the recent Hull KR’s homecoming celebrations, when 30,000 people lined the streets to welcome the team home, I’m sure the city will be buzzing with civic pride and excitement to see world-class players and entertainment on our doorstep.”
Welcoming International Fans and Teams
The city is preparing to host rugby fans and the Brisbane Broncos players, staff, and supporters traveling from Australia.
“We look forward to hosting rugby fans from around the country, and of course the Broncos players, staff and supporters travelling from the other side of the world. You’ll be given a very warm and friendly Hull welcome from the greatest rugby league city in the world.”
