Investigators have solved a cold case more than 60 years after a 9-year-old girl was raped and murdered inside a Pennsylvania church, according to prosecutors.
Carol Ann Dougherty was sexually assaulted and strangled to death, and her body was found in a church.
The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office announced that a grand jury investigation identified William Schrader as the person responsible for her murder.
William Schrader's name is "definitively linked to the crime that took Carol Ann’s young life, a conclusion reached through the combination of decades-old evidence and recent investigative developments,"
said District Attorney Jennifer Schorn, including witness statements and forensic evidence.
