Over 1,000 Artifacts Stolen from Oakland Museum of California
A break-in at the Oakland Museum of California's off-site storage facility resulted in the theft of over 1,000 objects.
Museum leaders and investigators suspect that the stolen items may soon appear in local pawn shops and second-hand stores.
Among the stolen items are:
- Modernist jewelry
- Native American baskets
- Daguerreotypes
- Contemporary everyday objects, such as political pins, trophies, and souvenirs
A thief or group of thieves stole more than 1,000 objects from the off-site storage facility of the Oakland Museum of California.
The break-in occurred at 3:30am on October 15, and was discovered by museum workers the following day.
