Genesis to Acquire 271MWp Waikato Solar Project
Genesis Energy plans to acquire and develop a 271MWp solar project in Waikato, New Zealand.
The project, estimated to cost NZ$487 million (US$281 million), will generate around 437GWh of electricity annually.

- Expected operational date: 2029
- Integration with battery storage planned
Tracey Hickman, Chief Operating Officer, Genesis Energy: "The Rangiriri project is a key step in advancing our Gen35 strategy, leveraging Huntly's grid-scale battery and hydro assets to balance solar variability."
The project will be strategically located near Genesis' 200MWh battery facility under construction at the Huntly Power Station.
