Microsoft Disables File Explorer Preview Pane for Internet Files
Microsoft has admitted that the File Explorer Preview pane will not work in Windows 11 25H2 for internet files by default.
According to Microsoft, the Preview pane has been disabled in Windows 11 25H2 and 24H2 for files downloaded from the internet due to security reasons.
- Locally created files can still be previewed.
- Files downloaded from the internet cannot be previewed in the File Explorer Preview pane.
For those unaware, File Explorer has two panes by default, including Details and Preview.
The Preview Pane allows users to quickly preview a file's content without opening it, supporting various file formats such as .docx and .py (Python).
