President Ramaphosa Praises Ambassador Mthethwa's Loyalty and Dedication
President Cyril Ramaphosa has lauded Ambassador Nathi Mthethwa as a dedicated public servant of South Africa.
Delivering the eulogy at his funeral, the President recalled Mthethwa's life of dedication to activism and loyalty to African National Congress (ANC) principles.
He was of a generation that came of age as our democracy was about to dawn. It was a generation of young lions that saw the end of apartheid and ushered in a new era of freedom and justice.
The President described Mthethwa as a thinker and teacher within the liberation movement, who taught valuable lessons about courage and never lost sight of what drew him into the struggle.
Ramaphosa called on ANC members to reflect on Mthethwa's life, who was deeply pained by the party's divisions.
