Romania to Fuel Argentine Reactors
Romania's Feldioara Uranium Plant has won an international tender to supply uranium dioxide fuel to Argentina's nuclear power plants for a year.
The Feldioara Uranium Concentrate Processing Plant (FPCU), a subsidiary of SN Nuclearelectrica (SNN), will deliver nuclear fuel in the form of uranium dioxide (UO2) to Argentina.
Argentina's power reactors, like those in Romania, are pressurised heavy water reactors (PHWRs) which do not require enriched uranium to operate.
- Romania's Cernavodă NPP comprises two 650 MWe Candu reactors.
- Argentina has two PHWRs at its Atucha NPP and a Candu unit at Embalse.
