Kennesaw State Architecture Students Earn Recognition

A team of Kennesaw State University architecture students, including Gabriela Almeida, Wade Brock, Quincy Smith, and Justin Barkie, reimagined an old Italian villa, turning crumbling walls into works of art.

Their project, “When Walls Roam,” won the Community’s Choice Award in Terraviva Competitions’ Venetian Villa challenge, receiving praise from viewers worldwide.

The Venetian Villa challenge tasked designers with reimagining a centuries-old villa in Italy’s Veneto region as a modern hospitality retreat, balancing tradition and innovation.

The team spent their summer transforming the ruins of history into a story of renewal.
