Near-mythical Bird Spotted After a Century
A bird thought to be lost to science for over a century has been caught on camera in the remote outback of Western Queensland and the Northern Territory.
The night parrot, considered the planet's 'most elusive bird', was photographed by a trail camera in the spinifex grasslands of Maiawali Country at Pullen Pullen Special Wildlife Reserve.
The critical find for conservationists came earlier this month after Bush Heritage Australia researchers confirmed three photographs captured.
The discovery was made possible by a remote camera, providing a glimpse into the life of this rare and cryptic bird.
