When Louisiana finally won a second-majority Black district in 2024, it was a significant milestone. For decades, Black voters like Press Robinson felt underrepresented, with only one voting district where they could be heard, despite making up a third of the state's population.
This fight is far from over.
As a member of the team advocating for a fair congressional map in Louisiana since 2022, Press Robinson is cautious about the current situation. A group of "non-African-American" voters have challenged the map that includes two majority-Black districts, putting the state's current congressional map in jeopardy.
