A southwestern Virginia prison guard has been indicted for allegedly assaulting an inmate three years ago.
David McMurry, a correctional officer at Wallens Ridge State Prison, is charged with deprivation of rights under color of law.
He is accused of using handcuffs to repeatedly strike a prisoner in the head in June 2022, which resulted in injury to the inmate.
McMurry faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted, due to the alleged use of a dangerous weapon.
He allegedly used a dangerous weapon and the incident injured the inmate.
