Wisconsin's public colleges are less affordable than in nearly every other state, according to a new analysis of 2022-23 school year data.
A report by the National College Attainment Network found that all of the state's public four-year schools and nearly 90% of the technical colleges were unaffordable.
“We saw (Wisconsin) stand out as particularly unaffordable as compared to our national average and to the other states in the region,”
said report author Louisa Woodhouse, a senior associate for the organization.
The analysis included 28 Wisconsin colleges, highlighting the state's "affordability gap" between the cost of college and what students and their families can pay.
Author's summary: Wisconsin ranks low in college affordability.
