Sunday Blaze Damages Fort Fairfield Home

A Fort Fairfield home was heavily damaged in a fire on Sunday, but was saved from total ruin thanks to the homeowner's quick call, fire officials said.

The owner, who had left the two-story house on Center Limestone Road earlier that day, returned to see smoke coming from the house and promptly called Fort Fairfield Fire Rescue, according to Assistant Chief Danny Gahagan.

The fire is believed to have started from an outside electrical outlet and caught quickly. Crews arrived at around 11:45 a.m. to find heavy fire outside and starting to spread into the building, along with a fallen power line.

No immediate information on the owner's name was available.
