Coal Miners Rally for Trump to Save Them from Black Lung Disease

Coal miners, their supporters, and medical experts gathered in Washington to urge the Trump administration to enforce black lung protections.

Outside the Department of Labor, a crowd of 50 miners and supporters, some carrying oxygen machines, called on President Donald Trump to take action.

Many wore T-shirts with the slogan "Black Lung Kills" and carried pictures of loved ones who had died from the disease.
The rally aimed to push the Trump administration to enforce silica regulations that were meant to take effect in the spring.

"Right this minute there is some 35-year-old dying right now trying to get his breath... This is the worst form of death one can imagine."

United Mine Workers President Cecil E. emphasized the severity of the disease, comparing it to a brutal form of murder.
