Creation of the MVP Character
The concept of the MVP character in WWE was inspired by an NFL star, as revealed by Andrew Goldstein, a former WWE creative team member, in an interview with Conrad Thompson for The Insiders podcast.
Goldstein discussed how Dusty Rhodes came up with the idea for the MVP gimmick, which included a full body suit and sports-styled presentation, similar to that of a football player.
“You could just see the wheel spinning, I mean, the best example of that is MVP”
Goldstein explained that MVP was in developmental at the time and was working on a version of his character, but it was still in its early stages. The inspiration for the character's development came from the NFL, specifically from the Philadelphia Eagles' player Terrell Owens.
