Sen. Erin Grall has filed a bill, SB 166, to strengthen parental rights over minors' health care.
The bill requires people under 18 to get their guardians' permission to be treated for sexually transmissible diseases or receive information on contraception.
"The consent of a parent or guardian of a minor is not a prerequisite for an examination; however, the consent of a parent or guardian is required for treatment,"
According to the bill, licensed health care professionals can still examine minors for STDs without their parents' approval, but need a guardian's consent for treatment.
