A fire at the Caribou Village Shopping Center in Nederland has destroyed or damaged up to a third of the town's businesses.
According to Gov. Jared Polis, the fire's impact is "enormous in terms of percentage of workforce and revenue". He estimates that around 30% of Nederland's sales tax revenue came from the affected shopping center.
There's probably 60, 70, 80 people whose livelihoods were connected to the site … so we want to make sure they're seamlessly able to access insurance.
The fire does not qualify as a major disaster, but its economic impact is significant.
