One Charged, Five Injured in Washington Junction Road Crash

Maine State Police closed down Washington Junction Road on Sunday around 8:50 a.m. following a head-on collision at the intersection of Poplar Lane, according to spokesperson Shannon Moss.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a Kia, operated by 35-year-old Katrina Springer of Ellsworth, turned left from Poplar Lane onto Washington Junction Road and collided with a Jeep, operated by 43-year-old Amy Richards of Ellsworth, who was traveling towards Ellsworth.

“Springer was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries,”

Moss said, as were four of her passengers, who had minor injuries. Troopers charged Richards with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant and operating after revocation.
