SpaceX Announces Commercial Cargo Missions to Moon and Mars
SpaceX has announced plans for regular commercial cargo missions to the Moon starting in 2028 and to Mars in 2030, with a cost of $100 million per ton.
The company aims to develop refueling and launch capabilities for the SpaceX Starship, with an unmanned test mission scheduled for 2026. This mission will require 8-12 refueling launches to send a Starship to Mars by the end of 2026, necessitating at least two or three Starship launches per month from July to December 2026.
If successful, each fully fueled Starship could transport 100-200 tons to the Moon and Mars, generating $10-20 billion in revenue per mission.
