The Unrivaled 3-on-3 basketball league will start its season on January 5, featuring some games in Philadelphia on January 1. This year, the draft saw new teams picking top players to strengthen their rosters.
The Breeze, one of two new teams in the league, earned the No. 1 pick for the second time this year and selected Paige Bueckers. The Hive, the other new squad, had the No. 2 pick and chose Kelsey Mitchell.
Players were split into six groups based on positions: guards, wings, and forwards. The draft consisted of six rounds with picks alternating among eight teams.
Last season’s four playoff teams—Rose, Lunar Owls, Vinyl, and Laces—were allowed to protect two players each, preventing expansion teams from drafting them. Non-playoff teams Phantom and Mist could protect one player each.
"The Breeze is one of two new clubs for the 3-on-3 league that plays in Miami in the winter."
"The league let the four playoff teams from last season protect two players from their rosters who couldn't be drafted by one of the expansion teams."
Players and fans can watch games for free on NBC 5.
