Paul Rodgers has confirmed that he will not attend this weekend’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, ending fans’ hopes for a Bad Company reunion. Despite his absence, the band will still be represented at the event.
Bad Company will be honored as part of the Hall’s class of 2025, marking their first nomination. Other inductees include Oasis, Soundgarden, the White Stripes, and renowned session bassist Carol Kaye.
There had been anticipation that surviving members — vocalist Paul Rodgers and drummer Simon Kirke — would appear together to commemorate their late bandmates, guitarist Mick Ralphs and bassist Boz Burrell. Rodgers’ current health, however, makes that impossible.
“My hope was to be at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and to perform for the fans, but at this time, I have to prioritize my health,”
“I have no problem singing; it’s the stress of everything else.”
The singer, who co-founded Bad Company following the breakup of Free, has suffered several strokes in recent years. These health challenges led to the band’s official retirement in 2023, with their last live performance taking place in 2019 when they opened for Lynyrd Skynyrd in Las Vegas.
Since 2008, former Heart guitarist Howard Leese has served as Bad Company’s lead guitarist, maintaining the band’s classic sound during its final years.
Paul Rodgers will miss Bad Company’s Hall of Fame induction due to health issues, emphasizing wellness over performance as the band’s legacy receives long-awaited recognition.
