The upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie carries immense expectations. Although the Marvel Cinematic Universe remains a global force, it no longer commands the same unrivaled attention it once did. The Fantastic Four: First Steps earned just over $500 million—respectable, though below Marvel’s usual standards.
Following the anticipated fourth Spider-Man film with Tom Holland, the MCU will return to a major crossover event. The production already faced challenges, including replacing Jonathan Majors as the main villain, shifting directors, adding mutants from the Fox era, and bringing back Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, reportedly for a massive paycheck.
Additionally, Kevin Feige has hinted that the next two Avengers movies may close the current chapter of the MCU, making this one a farewell to its current era.
Now, actor Simu Liu has heightened anticipation by suggesting that Avengers: Doomsday will not only deliver spectacle but also genuine emotion. In an interview with ScreenRant, Liu spoke about the grand scale of the project and the joy of working alongside an enormous cast.
“I mean, there are just so many actors in it, and getting to work with those people as peers is really incredible because I grew up watching so many of them,” he said. “It feels, in a lot of ways, like a love letter to the entire genre of superhero movies. And I think there’s something really fun about that.”
With its massive ensemble and emotional promise, the film seems poised to close out an era while celebrating everything that made superhero movies larger than life.
Simu Liu’s heartfelt comments add both weight and warmth to the growing anticipation for Avengers: Doomsday, a film positioned as the MCU’s grand emotional farewell.
