Ryanair CEO Eddie Wilson stated that more routes could be launched from Cornwall Airport Newquay if the government abolishes air passenger duty.
"We could do so much more here if the government ended air passenger duty. It does nothing for the locality and it's just an easy tax to collect."
Wilson argued that the tax does not benefit the local area and makes it difficult for smaller, regional airports like Newquay to remain competitive.
He announced Ryanair's winter schedule during his visit to the airport and expressed optimism about the possibility of introducing more routes in the future.
However, he noted that the recent government increase in air passenger duty makes it challenging to do so.
