Jennifer Lawrence has announced that the movie What Happens at Night, directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, is slated to begin filming in 2026.
This film marks the 27th feature production by Scorsese and tells the story of an American couple traveling to a snowy European city, hoping to adopt a baby. Their journey is complicated by a series of unusual events.
The movie is adapted from Peter Cameron’s novel What Happens at Night, published in 2020. The book introduces various intriguing characters:
“Nothing is as it seems in this baffling, frozen world, and the more the couple struggles to claim their baby, the less they seem to know about their marriage, themselves, and life itself.”
Besides Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, no additional cast members have been announced. Lawrence revealed to IndieWire that filming is expected to start around January or February, though she remains cautiously optimistic:
“Hopefully, a January/February situation. But one never knows with these things. I’ll believe it when I’m there. Leo and I worked together on Don’t Look Up.”
Jennifer Lawrence shared that shooting for Martin Scorsese’s What Happens at Night with Leonardo DiCaprio will likely begin early 2026, adapting a mysterious novel about a couple’s strange adoption journey.
