Middlesbrough will honor all who served and lost their lives in conflicts worldwide. A series of services and ceremonies will mark the town’s remembrance events this November.
Elected Mayor Chris Cooke will lay the First Poppy at the Cenotaph on Linthorpe Road at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, November 6. Students from local schools will also take part by placing poppy crosses on the Field of Remembrance.
The Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service will take place on Sunday, November 9. The parade will begin at 10:30 a.m., proceeding to the Cenotaph for a service that will conclude around 12:30 p.m.
Mayor Cooke and other civic representatives will be in attendance. For those unable to be present, the ceremony will be live-streamed via the Council’s Facebook page.
An additional Armistice Day service will be held at the Cenotaph on Tuesday, November 11, beginning at 10:45 a.m. The commemoration will include a two-minute silence in honor of the fallen. All services will be led by Reverend David Goodhew, Vicar of St Barnabas Church in Middlesbrough.
