The National Transport Authority (NTA) has been urged to help address ongoing public transport problems in Clondalkin after repeated complaints emerged during a local community forum. Residents say unreliable bus services continue to disrupt daily life in the area.
Councillor Darragh Adelaide requested that an NTA representative attend future meetings to discuss solutions to the persistent issues. He emphasized the heavy impact of erratic bus schedules on local residents.
“The 13 coming through Clondalkin was listed as one of the most cancelled buses in Dublin. These are issues that affect many, particularly older people left waiting in the cold, people with disabilities, parents with young children, and commuters trying to get to work,” said Councillor Adelaide.
Records show that on Wednesday, October 15, the number 13 bus was cancelled twenty-one times—about 13 percent of its scheduled trips that day. Most cancellations occurred near the starting point of the Grange Castle–Mountjoy Square route.
Councillor Eoin Ó Broin reported further disruptions, noting that services have occasionally bypassed Bawnogue, an area affected by ongoing roadworks.
“What can happen is that the bus skips Bawnogue in order to get back on track because when they’re late, they get fined by the NTA,” Cllr Ó Broin explained.
Frequent cancellations and route skips on the 13 bus continue to frustrate Clondalkin residents, prompting calls for stronger NTA oversight and improved service reliability.
