Earlier, Politico's European news outlet reported that a member of the Belgian security services had been arrested for possible espionage, but the specific service involved was not known until now.
Broadcaster RTBF established that the officer is based in the City of Brussels-Elsene police zone. The investigation will determine whether the suspect was aware of being manipulated.
