Academy Players Prepare for Remembrance Sunday

In the lead-up to Remembrance Sunday, Wolves Academy players have been honoring those who served, particularly from the club’s historic Old Gold community. Last Friday, the under-12 players planted a tree at Compton Park to remember Wolves players who served in both World Wars.

During the event, vicar Anne Martin was present as the youngsters read out the names of each individual alongside a poem reflecting their Remembrance feelings. This moment offered a meaningful close to a week dedicated to remembrance activities for the group.

Remembrance Week Activities

This project aligns with the Premier League’s annual Christmas Day truce initiative, offering young players a chance to connect with the past during an especially poignant period of the year.

“It's really important that we're looking after them as potential players, but also nice, super rounded people. That's really important to us and the boys have worked really hard on this project.” – Natalie Deakin, head of education at Wolves Academy

Author's summary: Wolves Academy’s remembrance activities educate young players about history while fostering personal growth and community spirit through meaningful events and reflection.
