Lorenzo Musetti Maintains Turin Challenge, Reaches Athens Semifinals

Italian tennis player Lorenzo Musetti advanced to the semifinals of the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Hellenic Championship in Athens with a commanding 6-2, 6-4 victory over Alexandre Muller. The win brings him within two matches of qualifying for the Nitto ATP Finals.

The stakes are high for Musetti, who aims to secure his first appearance at the prestigious season-ending tournament held in his home country. To qualify, he must claim the trophy at this ATP 250 event. Felix Auger-Aliassime currently holds the final qualifying position in the PIF ATP Live Race to Turin.

According to Thursday’s official draw, the Turin tournament will feature Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev, and Ben Shelton in the Bjorn Borg Group. Whoever secures the last qualifying spot will join this elite lineup.

“1,400 miles away from Turin, Musetti kept his focus on the task in front of him.”

The 23-year-old Italian dominated with precise shot-making, pulling Muller across the court and closing the match after 82 minutes on his first opportunity to serve for victory.

This marks Musetti’s seventh semi-final of the season. He will face American Sebastian Korda next. Korda advanced after defeating Miomir Kecmanovic 6-3, 6-2 — his third tour-level semi-final of the year. The American now leads their Lexus ATP Head2Head series 3–1, having also beaten Kecmanovic en route to the final in Adelaide in January.
