US Plants Can Start Exporting Pork to Malaysia - Pig Progress

US president Donald Trump has signed trade deals with Malaysia and Cambodia, allowing the United States to export pork to both countries.

According to the US National Pork Producers Council (NPPC), the deal with Malaysia will open access to all US facilities included in the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) Meat, Poultry and Egg Product Inspection Directory.

Malaysia has also agreed to recognise the US protection zone for African Swine Fever within 15 months of signing the deal and complete a regionalisation deal.

The deal is expected to benefit US pork producers, with US pork exports to Malaysia amounting to $24 in 2024.
