China has agreed to buy 12 million tons of U.S. soybeans as part of a trade deal, after President Donald Trump pulled back on his threats of 100% tariffs.

Whether that helps Arkansas farmers already hurt by China’s previous boycott of soybeans remains to be seen.

Cabinet secretaries, including Finance and Administration Secretary Jim Hudson, have blamed China's "predatory behavior" for the struggles of Arkansas farmers, rather than acknowledging the impact of Trump's tariffs.

Hudson stated that farmers "are struggling not because of ordinary business cycles. They are struggling because of predatory behavior by China.
