Nigel Farage Heckled in Commons

Nigel Farage suffered a defeat in the House of Commons as MPs voted down his proposal to leave the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR).

Farage, the Reform UK leader, proposed a 10-minute rule bill to withdraw from the ECHR. However, his proposal was met with heckling from Labour and Lib Dem MPs.

Farage: "It's marvellous to see the intellectual levels of debate in this place, it really is"

Despite the opposition, dozens of Lib Dem MPs and opposition MPs from smaller parties turned up to vote. The final result was 154 votes to 96, a majority of 58 against Farage's proposal.

Author's note: Farage's proposal was defeated by a significant margin.
