In Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action Friday at the Powassan Sportsplex, the Greater Sudbury Cubs won 7-2 over the Powassan Voodoos.
The Cubs' Nolan Newton scored midway through the first period, and Kaedyn Long added another goal at 19:55, making it 2-0 Cubs.
Powassan cut the deficit in half early in the second stanza thanks to Cayden Kowal, who tipped in a left point shot by Ben Gisonni.
