Jeweller Duped in Distraction Heist

A man pretended to buy a gold chain for a Jain monk and allegedly stole gold chains worth several lakhs of rupees from a jewellery store on Ashoka Road.

The incident occurred at Deep Jewellers on Oct. 21, prompting the store owner, Ratan Lal, to lodge a complaint at Lashkar Police Station.

According to the report, a 55-year-old man entered the store, spoke to Ratan Lal in Hindi, and requested to see silver coins. When shown a 20-gram silver coin, the man set it aside and asked to see a 2-gram gold coin, claiming it was for donation at a temple.

The man claimed the gold coin was for donation at a temple.

Ratan offered to fetch a gold coin and called an employee named Lalpu. The man's actions were a distraction, and he allegedly stole gold chains worth several lakhs of rupees.
