Vikings' Coach Assigns Blame After 27-Point Loss
Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell stated that he should shoulder the blame for the 27-point defeat to the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Vikings, who entered the game at 3-3, needed a win to regain momentum while awaiting the return of starting quarterback JJ McCarthy, who is sidelined with an ankle injury. However, they trailed 21-3 at halftime and ultimately fell 37-10.
We got outplayed. There are no excuses — injuries, short week, whatever it is. That is not, in any way, shape, or form, our standard of what we want to put on the field.
O'Connell made it clear that the defeat wasn't on the defense or quarterback Carson Wentz, but rather on him, saying
As I told our team, we’ve got an opportunity in front of us where we need to own this.
