Hometown Hauntings: Exploring the Haunting of 440 Main
440 Main Restaurant has a rich history and a permanent tenant. The building, one of the oldest in the city, has been around for about 30 years and has hosted various businesses in the past.
According to legend, a young girl named Mary once danced in the building's banquet hall. One night, Mary fell, although it's unclear whether she fell down a balcony or stairs. Despite the uncertainty, Mary has become a well-known figure associated with 440 Main.
“Mickey, one of the other former owners, has told us stories that she’s experienced,” said General Manager Amanda Gilich. “As for me, little stories, I think most of the time when I’m closing the restaurant, I’ll sometimes like catch a shadow or just a weird feeling, but I’ve never had anything randomly pop up or appear.
Some staff members, including Gilich, have reported their own experiences with Mary, making her a household name at 440 Main.
