MPs step in to address Waverley CIL ‘injustice’

MPs Intervene in Waverley CIL Dispute

MPs have stepped in to address the ongoing controversy surrounding Waverley's use of the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), deemed "unfair" and "unintended".

The Housing, Communities and Local Government (HCLG) Committee has written to Housing Minister Matthew Pennycook, highlighting cases of homeowners in Waverley and other areas being charged under CIL regulations for small home improvement projects.

“It’s alarming to hear that some homeowners have been hit by unfair charges under the Community Infrastructure Levy regulations.”

According to the committee, the levy was originally intended for large-scale developers, not homeowners. The committee's letter, sent on October 16, aims to address this "injustice" and find a solution for affected residents.
