Justyn Thompson expressed pride in his performance at the Association of Pickleball Players (APP) Open in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he won the men's singles title.
Thompson emerged undefeated in his bracket after winning his first three matches in the round robin. He then outscored Eric Greene of the Cayman Islands 11-2 in the final to claim the gold.
Overall I felt pretty good and confident about playing in the tournament. I had mixed feelings because I struggle with training as often and don’t have the opportunity to travel and compete consistently like the average professional player.
Despite making a last-minute decision to participate, Thompson appreciated the support of his job at Baha Mar, which allowed him to practice on the courts and go to the gym.
Author's summary: Thompson wins men's singles title despite training challenges.
