Sikorsky's U-HAWK Helicopter
Sikorsky's unmanned U-HAWK is a modified UH-60L Black Hawk without a cockpit.
As the Army considers retiring its Black Hawks, Sikorsky is promoting a variant that can carry more cargo while keeping aircrew safe. The U-HAWK is an unmanned version of the UH-60L, with its cockpit replaced by clamshell doors and a ramp.
The aircraft is equipped with Sikorsky's MATRIX autonomous technology, allowing a ground operator to control it using a tablet.
Company officials hope the U.S. and other militaries see the remotely piloted U-HAWK as a useful new variant of the venerable airframe.
