Health authorities are advising South Australians not to consume Aussie Sprouts Alfalfa Sprouts made by Parilla Fresh. The national recall was issued due to suspected Salmonella contamination.
This action follows a collaborative investigation by health and food regulators into a rise in an unusual strain of Salmonella infection. Parilla Fresh voluntarily initiated the recall while tests and inquiries continue.
Other alfalfa sprout brands produced by Parilla Fresh have been withdrawn in other states. In South Australia, only the Aussie Sprouts brand is affected. The impacted 125g packs were sold in several supermarkets, including Coles and Woolworths, with use-by dates up to and including 20 November 2025.
“Don’t eat this particular product and if you have purchased the Aussie Sprouts Alfalfa Sprouts, you can return it to the point of sale or dispose of it,” said Karen Ferres, Director of Food Safety and Regulation.
A list of affected batches and related details can be found on the Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) website.
