In their second non-conference game, Penn women’s basketball improved to 2-0 by defeating Delaware State 63-41. Junior center Tina Njike recorded her first career double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
The game began as a tightly contested battle. Although Delaware State responded quickly after Penn's opening basket, the Quakers went on a 6-0 run. Delaware's defense pressured Penn but couldn’t maintain the lead, with the teams breaking for halftime at 16-11 in favor of Penn.
The Quakers picked up momentum in the second quarter, hitting multiple three-pointers early on. Both Njike and sophomore guard Ashna Tambe hit threes to push Penn’s lead to 24-13 within the first three minutes of the period.
Delaware State faced a nearly 20-point deficit heading into the second half, looking to mount a comeback.
