The Belleville Senators achieved a milestone on Saturday night by becoming the first AHL team this season to score a goal in Syracuse. They didn’t stop there, adding six more to secure a 7-4 win over the Crunch.
Syracuse opened the scoring in the first period when Cooper Flinton buried a rebound past Leevi Meriläinen just over five minutes into the game. Belleville responded three minutes later on a power play.
Arthur Kaliyev scored his second goal of the season on a one-timer from the right circle, assisted by Stephen Halliday.
About four minutes later, Wyatt Bongiovanni fired his fourth of the year past Brandon Halverson, giving Belleville a 2-1 lead after twenty minutes. The second period brought a flurry of goals — four within just over six minutes.
The Belleville Senators maintained control through the rest of the night, finishing with their season-high seven goals to secure the victory.
Belleville dominated Syracuse with a relentless offensive effort, scoring seven times and handing the Crunch their first home loss with an impressive team performance.
