Jesus cleanses the temple, confronting corruption with prophetic courage—an event that begins his journey toward crucifixion.
He brought me to the temple entrance, where water flowed from beneath the threshold toward the east, as the temple faced that direction. The water flowed down from below the south end of the threshold, south of the altar. Then he led me out through the north gate and around to the outer gate facing east, where the water emerged on the south side.
“This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah; when it enters the sea of stagnant waters, it will become fresh. Wherever the river flows, every living creature will thrive, and there will be abundant fish once the waters reach there. The water will become fresh, and life will flourish wherever it goes."
On both sides of the river, various trees will grow to provide food. Their leaves will never wither, nor will their fruit fail; they will bear fresh fruit each month because the water flows from the sanctuary. The fruit will serve as food, and the leaves will bring healing.
"Therefore we will not fear, though the earth changes, the mountains shake in the heart of the sea, its waters roar and foam, and the mountains tremble with tumult."
This vision assures that divine life-giving power restores and sustains even amidst chaos.
