Avalon Airport is undergoing significant infrastructure improvements in preparation for its renewed international services set to begin next year. The expansion includes upgrades across both domestic and international terminals and several enhancements to support growing passenger demand.
Earlier this year, Avalon opened a modernized freight facility to handle increased cargo operations. The airport will also see Jetstar launch direct flights to Bali in March 2026.
Avalon will soon receive its first public bus route, complementing the current SkyBus services. The upcoming Route 18 will operate daily, linking the airport with Lara Station on the Geelong line, improving accessibility for both travelers and staff.
“This infrastructure will set the foundation for even more flights in regional Victoria for years to come,” said Victoria’s Minister for Regional Development Jaclyn Symes.
“The new bus route will deliver better public transport options for Avalon and ensure improved access for thousands of workers and passengers every day,” added Victoria’s Minister for Public Transport Gabrielle Williams.
According to regional officials, these airport upgrades will generate around 80 jobs during construction and are expected to strengthen the local tourism and transport economy once completed.
Avalon Airport’s upgrades signal a major regional investment, boosting connectivity, job creation, and readiness for renewed global air travel in 2026.
