The Government Rewrites the History of January 6

Two federal prosecutors have been placed on leave by the Justice Department, which also removed references to January 6 from court filings.

“Justice Department strips Jan. 6 references from court paper and punishes prosecutor who filed it.”

This suggests, according to our own government, that the event never happened. Other countries that have rewritten or chosen to forget their histories include Russia, Hungary, China, and Germany. What else might the Justice Department want us to forget? For me, it would be the idea of the “land of the free and home of the brave.” When that phrase disappears from history, what then?

Another Audit Isn’t the Answer for Santa Rosa Schools

Teachers and staff at Santa Rosa City Schools are calling for another audit of the district’s accounts.

“Teachers union rallies for outside audit,” Nov.

An audit only verifies if spending and balances are properly recorded; it doesn’t assess whether spending is necessary or effective. Audits consume time and money, resources the teachers, staff, and district lack. Having reviewed the district’s finances over several years, audits have consistently returned perfect or near-perfect results. These formal audits take about six months. Previously, through the Public Records Act, I obtained detailed financial records and carefully examined the numbers.

Author’s summary: The letters express concern over the erasure of historical events and caution against redundant audits that don’t address core financial effectiveness in education.
