First Dose of Wintry Weather to Hit GTA on Sunday

Environment Canada forecasts snowfall ranging from 2 to 10 cm starting Sunday morning, continuing throughout the day. This weather event is expected to affect an area from London to Ottawa.

Snowfall Warning for Eastern Ontario

A snowfall warning is in place for parts of eastern Ontario where some areas could see up to 20 cm of snow.

Weather Details and Impact

“This is system snow, it’s going to be widespread, so this is indeed our first widespread snow event of the season,” said CityNews Meteorologist Chris Potter.

Potter explains that the system will bring mostly snow across much of southern Ontario. It begins with showers overnight, turning into snow by Sunday morning. After a short pause, the snowfall will resume in the afternoon and continue into the evening.

“Keep in mind what falls might not equate to what stays on the ground,” Potter noted, mentioning the downtown core could receive around 2 cm, while northern areas may see 5 to 10 cm.

Travel Advisory

Environment Canada advises motorists to anticipate difficult driving conditions and to prepare for adjustments to their travel plans.

Summary: The Greater Toronto Area will experience its first significant snowfall of the season on Sunday, with varying amounts expected and travel challenges likely.
