The Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo has once more launched a critique of France's Ligue 1 during a recent interview. Known for his time at Real Madrid, Ronaldo expressed strong opinions about the competitive landscape of the French league.
In a detailed discussion with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo stated that the French league revolves primarily around Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). He said,
“The Saudi Pro League is much better than the Portuguese league and Ligue 1, where there’s only PSG.”
He added,
“For me, it’s easier to score in La Liga than in the Saudi Pro League.”
Ronaldo highlighted the unique challenges faced in the Saudi Pro League, emphasizing the extreme weather conditions. He mentioned,
“They can say whatever they want, but the numbers don’t lie. They’ve never played in the Saudi Pro League. They don’t know what it’s like to run under 40°C heat.”
He also pointed to the high quality of players in Saudi Arabia, adding that,
“Just look at the number of top-level players we have in the league.”
Ronaldo expressed confidence in his scoring abilities regardless of the club or league, stating,
“If I were playing right now for a big Premier League team, I’d still be scoring just as many goals.”
His remarks reflect a critical view of Ligue 1’s competitiveness beyond PSG and praise for the Saudi Pro League’s quality and challenges.
Cristiano Ronaldo criticizes Ligue 1’s dominance by PSG while defending the Saudi Pro League’s quality and harsh playing conditions with confidence in his own scoring prowess.
