Seven Australians Feature in NBA Cup

Seven Australian players took part in the NBA Cup games on November 1, 2025, marking another strong day for the country's basketball talent abroad. Dyson Daniels stood out with an impressive all-around performance for the Atlanta Hawks.

Dyson Daniels’ Breakout Game

Daniels, 22, came out hot in the opening quarter, scoring 10 points in 13 minutes with three rebounds, an assist, and two steals before a first-half rest. The Hawks were leading 41-39 midway through the second quarter when he checked out.

The Atlanta Hawks (3-3) went on to dominate the Indiana Pacers (0-5) with a 128-108 victory.

"Daniels produced a season-high 18 points, adding nine rebounds, six assists, and three steals to his 2025–26 totals."

He shot 8-for-13 from the field and made both of his free throws, finishing the game with a +13 rating. While his offense has been developing slowly at the start of the season, his defensive prowess continues to distinguish him as one of the NBA’s top perimeter defenders.

Daniels is still integrating into Atlanta’s restructured offense following the addition of Kristaps Porziņģis.

Other Australians

Second-year wing Johnny Furphy did not play for the Indiana Pacers in the matchup.

Author’s summary: Josh Giddey and Dyson Daniels highlighted an outstanding night for Australian players, showing growing influence in the NBA Cup’s early stages.
