Hayley Williams, the vocalist of Paramore, has released the 20th and final single from her third solo album, Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party. The song, titled "Showbiz," features enigmatic lyrics that hint at tensions experienced under the spotlight.
On November 7th, Williams officially completed the album rollout by releasing "Showbiz." Prior to this, 17 tracks were released individually on a free website, followed by a gradual buildup toward the full project presentation.
Many fans have speculated that this album signals Paramore's breakup. However, Williams reassured that the band is only “on a break.” In the single, she sings:
“May never happen again / Stings like sweat on broken skin / And it’s never enough / Tastes like the whole ocean / Exit stage left / What might be the end / Showbiz, showbiz.”
The exact meaning of what is “ending” remains unclear.
In the previous single, "Good Ol’ Days," Williams refers to herself as “Miss Paramore,” hinting that the band, which she started at age 15, may continue. She also admitted feeling she was unfairly “blamed for all the shit” that contributed to several band hiatuses.
The latest lyrics further touch on her recent breakup with the Paramore guitarist, adding emotional depth to the album’s narrative.
Summary: Hayley Williams concludes her solo album with "Showbiz," a song filled with cryptic reflections on fame, band tensions, and personal struggles, while affirming Paramore's temporary pause, not ending.
