Lane Johnson's Season of Strong Mental Health: Get Help Now

Lane Johnson's Season of Strong Mental Health

If you or a loved one struggle with substance use disorder, you’re not alone. In Pennsylvania, free 24/7 support is available.

Hey, y’all. As we come off the bye week and head to Green Bay, I’ve been reflecting on how challenging — yet crucial — it is to reach out for help. Struggling with mental health challenges hasn’t been easy for me. But sharing my own battles has hopefully helped others who feel isolated.

Earlier this year, I considered how I could use my voice to help more people. I contacted our state Health Department and learned they want to raise awareness about a resource for those dealing with substance use disorder. I created an Instagram reel to share this information.

While substance use disorder and mental illness are not the same, they often overlap and both carry shame, stigma, and secrecy. I know from experience that keeping struggles private is never beneficial. To navigate life’s challenges, we must be willing to lean on others for support.

When the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs asked me to help promote a free, 24/7 helpline for those facing substance use disorder, I immediately agreed.

“I know it’s hard, but please, please dig deep to find the courage to get help now — I’m rooting for you, and I believe in you.”

Author’s summary: Lane Johnson encourages people to seek support for mental health and substance use challenges, emphasizing the power of sharing struggles to break stigma and find help.
